SLEEVED BODICE or JACKET--Ours is patterned after one in the "Williamsburg collection.  From the extant garments we've seen, a fitted sleeved jacket was enjoyed by women in every walk of life.  The front of ours is laced closed to the waist and is supported by a stay down each side of the center front.  The bottom of the front is flat with a slash nearly to the waist.  The back sweeps down into a graceful point we call the "perky back" The sleeves come to just below the elbow.  These jackets make up very well in cottons, linens and wools.  We especially like them in the wonderful colorful "calico" prints of the middle 1700's-- but solid colors are lovely too.  We will send swatches of the fabrics we have on hand if you like (See the swatch info on the order form) this is one of our most popular items (and one of our favorites too).

The sizing for jackets is by waist measure--starting with a 24-inch waist and going by 2-inch increments up to a size 44-inch waist (as required, more or less). Other sizes by special order and at the same price.

In the 18th century, silk was one of the fabrics available along with linen, wool, cotton and various blends of these fibers. Until recently, silk was hard for us modern day folks to find and very expensive. Lately, there's been a renaissance in availability and hence popularity of this awesome fabric, which allows us to appreciate the rich beauty and amazing durability of a fabric our forbearers cherished.

It's a well-known fact that cats are connoisseurs of fine fabrics. The Turkey Roost's Quality Control Commission Cats (otherwise known as the QCCC) wholeheartedly endorse our selection of fabrics and Annie's Hamilton specifically admires our silks--Stop by our store and see if you agree!
